For the debut EP, David Small recorded all the parts himself. But for the recording of Born, he enlisted musicians Lamar Little (drums), Max Butler (Keys), and Mike Roberts (Bass). After only three rehearsals, the LP was recorded "live in the studio", at the Piuma (py-ooma) EP record release show. The album embodies an off-the-cuff performance with no overdubs. Certain instrumental sections were collectively improvised, such as the second half of the songs As Far As the Eye Can See and Live Laugh Love, which were jammed in-the-moment.

The recording was also filmed live in HD. Relix Magazine premiered the live film of As Far As the Eye Can See followed by the debut of the single from the album, Live Laugh Love. Songwriting Magazine also premiered the film of Beyond the Bubble.

$1.00 from each album sale is donated to the nonprofit TreePeople, which has planted over 2 million trees over the past 40 years. Each record helps offset 400 lbs of carbon; the equivalent of one month of an average household's power.
